live.drop 'no entry' icon

mauricenorris's icon

When using [live.drop] in a MaxforLive audio effect placed on an audio track in Ableton Live, there's a 'no entry' sign appears near the cursor when dropping in files from the Ableton browser. The [live.drop] blue border appears when hovering over the drop area and it allows you to drop in the file but the icon remains present. When dragging in from Finder on a Mac, the icon appears briefly then disappears.

When using the same device on a MIDI track, however, the icon is the expected 'file' icon and not the 'no entry' icon.

I can't find anything in the Max documentation about this and have tested this with nothing but a [live.drop] object in the MaxforLive device and dropping in .wav files.

Ultimately, it's not a massive problem as the file loads anyway, regardless of icon displayed but it kind of gives the impression to the user that the file they're about to drop in isn't allowed for some reason.

Does anyone know why this is happening? I'm curious to know what's causing this and if there's any way to prevent it. Or is this just how Max behaves when using [live.drop] in a device on an audio track?
