Live.routing bug ?

Hello.

Impossible to use the new live.routing object.

Pasting the help patcher for midi input (it's the same with audio or output as well) in an empty midi max device does nothing here on win 10/ Live 12.0b28 / Max8.6.1

The umenus show inputs of another computer.. =)

I am on windows and it shows IAC Driver etc...

Rebooting Live or PC doesn't change anything;..

Any idea ?

And before the venue of this object I used another little patch in Live 11 that did the same and this one is not working anymore in L12, menus there are allways empty...

Thank you

what is "new live.routing object" ?

the fact that you see IAC or other non existing inputs

means that patch was saved with umenu populated...

Hello SourceAudio

From the release notes of max 8.6 annoucing this new object :

live.routing: utility object for easily managing Audio and MIDI input and output routings without having to make use of lower level LiveAPI functions

I just copy the example patch from the help patch in a empty device, there is a "port" message to initialize the object, but whatever I do, the umenu are never filled or are filled with the list show in the picture above.

EDIT: when you say "the fact that you see IAC or other non existing inputs

means that patch was saved with umenu populated". Does that mean that it's the help patch of the object that has been badly saved ?

I don't use max 8.6 or Live, I thought it was something based on standard midi objects.

but yes , if you see leftovers from different system,

it contains last populated midi ports from mac

found at the moment it was saved.

and that again means that live.routing object does not function at all

on your system/live app

Chiming in a bit late here, but I wondered about the same problem. Apparently live.routing fails to initialize in MIDI Effects and only works in Instrument/Audio Effects. Hopefully there's going to be a fix soon — sending MIDI around while still keeping the MIDI on the same track would be amazing.

"In a previous version, the text stated that all devices can send and receive MIDI to and from anywhere in Live. However only Audio effects can route MIDI inputs and outputs, and Instruments can only route MIDI output. MIDI effects' inputs and outputs and Instruments' MIDI inputs are necessarily fixed to their device chain."
