loadram in Andrew Bensons movie bank patch does not work
hi list,
i was very happy to see the latest tutorial from Andrew Bensons,
which describes how to program an efficient movie loader.
everythin works fine, but when i switch between the movies the newly triggered movie stops for 7 frames. which meens a 280 millisecond freeze at every start of a new clip.
is that normal ?
or has someone found out a better solution ?
thanks in advance for any help
my movies are: 768x576 fotojpeg
my system is: latest Max5, macbook pro 2.16 GHz, 10.4.11
with external hd 7200
henry
still have the same problem...
1024x576 photo jpeg
internal hd on mac pro, 5 gb 667 mhz ddr2 ram, 2x3ghz dual core
max5, os 10.5.8
having the same problem here.
10 similar frames after switching movie.
640 x 480 photo jpeg, max5, mac osx 10.5.8
my machine: MacBookPro2,2
Does this lag also happen when retriggering a movie that had been triggered before or is it only the first time?
hi andrew,
thanks for your fast reply :-)
it seems to be a systematic bug.
the freeze is happening any time, triggering a clip.
downloaded the latest version of the movie bank patch.
very strange.

Hmm, works fine here on my machine. Do you get any errors? What sort of hard drive are you reading from? (disk speed, interface, etc.) Are all of your videos the same size and compression? Is anything else happening on your machine while testing this?
If the problem persists, try the attached version of the vps.mbank abstraction.
hello andrew,
testet your new patch.
the switching behavior has changed.
now i have the stillframes before the switch.
if i switch from movie_01 to movie_01
movie_01 with 5 stillframes at the end, then movie_01
the behavior at the original VPS-4 was
movie_01 then 5 stillframes at the begining of movie_02
MacBookPro2,2, mac os 10.5.8
all videos have the same size and compression 640x480, photo-jpg, 25 fps
disk speed 7200 over firewire 800
window size 640x480, moviebank size 640x480 uyvy
record settings 640x480 photojpeg
only max is running.
same behavior with and without recording.
