Logic pro and Max/Msp
How can I work with Logic pro and Max/Msp?
Rewire and triger Max from Logic.

You can run MaxMSP as a ReWire client (and, presumably, Logic as a
ReWire host). Getting MIDI from Logic back into MaxMSP would require
something like IAC (doable on the Mac; I don't know the situation
under Windows).
You could also look into building VST plugins for Pluggo via MaxMSP.
(Getting MIDI out of a plugin back into the host appears to be
something of a challenge - I'm about to explore this using Live as
host.)

It should work in Logic too. Any plug-in on Mac is able to send out MIDI data:
rewire works pretty well for sending midi to max and routing audio from max into logic. the timing with the IAC bus is rubbish. vst plugins are pretty good for timing and stability (rewire can be a bit unstable with logic) but obviously you cant edit them easily.
rewire seems more stable with ableton for some reason.
a problem with logic is using synch information. tick info seems to be quite innacurate when it arrives in max. i couldnt use it really. ableton seems a bit easier to synch.
i use 1.25 ghz powerbook , logic 6.3.1, live 6, os x 10.4.8
also... if youre concerned about super tight timing, only certain bpms will give you accurate results. these are multiples of the vector size in max. other bpms will noticeably drift a few ms using rewire
for example
107.66
129.2
143.55
161.5
184.6
215.33
258.4
all sound good

That seems to refer to AU's, not VST's.
(VST's might work as well; I've just not tried it yet.)

Since this topic is about Logic, I thought appropriate the link to the Apple CoreAudio list.
(And since Cubase 4 doesn't work on Mac... ;-)
Cheers,
