Hi, I live in N16, but if there were a few more of us, maybe we could meet up in the centre of town - a room above a pub for instance ? - there are lots of those... or maybe the ICA - there's not much going on there.

I'm in for Cafe OTO, do they let you hire out the space.
It would be cool for some performances but I'm also interested in development, iphone/ ipad /stand alone etc.
I'm sure there has to be a room somewhere to just get together.

sounds like fun - if we contact a Starbucks they normally let you have a meeting there. Could be an option.

How is life in London anyway Matt? You seem remarkably social compared to your undergrad self. I can't recall any Max meetings, just mailouts about your jokerap.

Although Cafe Oto is a nice idea, the cafe is only open until 17:30 if there's a gig on later (which there usually is), so unless anyone wants to meet there on a weekend, perhaps we should seek an alternative. There are other cafes in that area which could accommodate, but as I said in an earlier post there are hundred of pubs all over London with upstairs rooms or just a quiet downstairs. Are we all agreed on Dalston ? - it's got character cos it doesn't have a Starbucks (yet)...

17:30 is not very good - do you think it would be better to be a little central. Dalston is not the most *desirable* place in the east ; )

hi, is there still some interest in a max group meeting?
there's a pub near me in central london with many close tubes and an upstairs room. I've seen a few monthly "scaledown" gigs there with interesting experimental music and sound works.

I work late most weekday evenings but I would definitely be up for some sort of gathering. My max-related activities have been on hold for a while and I need a kick in the right direction. I'll be following this thread to see if anything works out!

i had a pint in the king and queen tonight and got a name to call tomorrow from the barman.
apparently if you dont want the little bar open upstairs then there is just a "small donation" to make .... i'll find out tomorrow what that means .... what? of course we can still take drinks upstairs, stupid!
2 things ... I'm easy anytime but I wonder if weekends may be better for some people?

ok - seeing as the 3 interested respondents have a problem with 7pm Thurday 21st Oct I'd like to suggest that you guys list the days of the following week that you can attend and if there's a better opportunity I'll try to change it.

been having some difficulty with the booking as the guy i was dealing with has gone on holiday ....
finally got to see the reservation book last night in the pub ...
I've cancelled thursday as it was problematic and the next week is booked up, so the next free day is Fri 5th November.

I'm pulling my hair out over facebook at this very moment ... Groups or Pages - that is the question.
I see some peoples Groups that look like Pages - which I want as I can't seem to get the group information to display on the front page of the group (or anywhere in fact)!! blah
so at the moment there is a Group AND a Page - one will disappear when i've sussed it out. Feel free to join them both ;- .... that's if you CAN join a page (another confusion) ...

I'm wondering if it's because i'm the admin of the group that the page looks different from other peoples groups.

The two pics above are to show how my group looks wrong. The top one is good ... it has the group description on the left, and further down group members.
Mine doesn't show any of that although I have entered all the info. Weird as I have previously made a group with no problems at all.

I wish there some Welsh Maxers out there so I could meet up with them :( hoping to move up to Hertfordshire for my Masters next Summer so hopefully this group will be still going strong in Summer :)

I don't know any Maxers in Wales, although I've been touring a Max-based performance piece over there over the last year. (We made it in Aberystwyth and it's been shown in Cardiff/Caerdydd and Carmarthen/Caerfyrddin, and is going to Bangor next year).
Hertfordshire's a good place for learning Max - I teach there...!
@nick do you teach the Audio Programming course? Really want to go down that route when I graduate, is it compulsory to have a programming background? I know simple c++ Pascal and Basic but only the simple stuff and I would style class myself as a learner of Max built a few working patches but still need to gain sufficient knowledge of the language.
Last year I was teaching audio/visual integration: interactive systems design with both MaxMSP and Jitter.
