Looking for a Max/Msp Project Idea!

Hi

I'm in my final year of university in the U.K. and am really struggling to get an idea, or even vague group of idea's, together for a dissertation project involving Max/Msp. The brief is so open (we can literally do anything) that I'm finding it hard to get the ball rolling.

What would some of you guys do if you had 14 weeks and the help of some university max wizzes?

Cheers

i guess they will be looking for something that is original or even something that is just really useful and bad ass.

you could build a lovely synth that can do lots of lovely things. or even a drum machine with crazy features.
but then again you could try something involving video, if you have jitter. triggering certain elements with movement or light.

there are a ton of things you could knock up but it depends on how big this project has to be and what sort of thing they are looking for.
but, if i was in your shoes. i would try something that was original [even though it hard to be original these days] and cool to show off to people for the project. possibly a complete music suite.

aye...

my first fine arts project was to have max video track a cockroach and trigger sounds with the tracking data, this was in 2000, with no jitter nor softVNS and not many max/msp wizzards around to help me.

now with all the tools and possibilities at your disposal just go ahead and let your creativity go wild.

lately i came across this artist, Zimoun who does little sound producing robots :

maybe not done with max but a good source of inspiration.

how about a musical egg boiler ? an voice synthesis based bacon frier ? a gello touchscreen ? an adn code based video slicer ? a babyfoot drummachine ? a mind controlled washing machine ?

the brief is certainly "so open" to let you understand that there are no real limits in interaction design and new media based arts today. the only one is your creativity and/or your sense of morality

good luck and have fun
