Mac Mini 2014
Anyone using the latest models of Macmini 2014 out there?
I am considering buying the middle of the range:
2.6GHz Processor , 1 TB Storage, 2.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5, 8GB memory, 1TB hard drive1, Intel Iris Graphics OS X Yosemite
and was wondering if it is any good to run max patches and Saffire Soundcard Pro 14
Thanks!

It's OK but not great. The former generation BTO quad core i7 macmini was more powerful, but I guess they probably cut too much in the sales of Mac Pro's, so Apple removed the quad core i7 option.
Also, get an SSD, old fashioned spinning platter disks are good for backups and not much else. They are slow, noisy and generate more heat inside the already cramped housing of the mini.
The saffire pro 14 is connected by firewire. FW is a dead technology. It will sort of work with a tb to fw adapter.
I would suggest something small made by RME with USB if you need something cheap(-ish) but reliable.
My 2c.
