Hi, I’m trying to figure out how to make certain parts of the Live interface stay visible at all times. I’ve heard that i can do this with Max for Live, but don’t have any experience with it and don’t know much about programming. Trying to figure out how easy/difficult it would be for a beginner to set it up and where is the best place to start, Could you please help?

There’s a couple different parts of the interface that i want to be able to quickly see whenever i’m using Live. 

The first is the looper device. Its very helpful to see the visual feedback of the looper to know what part of the loop is playing , but i have a looper device on a bus and i am only able to see the device when i have the bus track selected. This is inconvenient because it means that i can’t select or edit any other tracks while seeing the visual feedback of the looper.

Is there any way to see the looper device when the track is not selected? How?

Secondly, is there any way to view my mixer volume levels all of the time? I often use other apps open while using Live and their windows often hide the mixer in Live. It would make it easier monitor the sound appropriately if i could always see all of my levels at a quick glance. 

Additionally, I sometimes have difficulty finding a track in Live if i’m working on a project with many tracks. I would prefer to see some specific tracks, like my microphone tracks for example, all of the time (kind of like how the Master or Return tracks are always visible, no matter where in the session or arrangement view i am looking).

Could i do all of this with MaxForLive? How involved would this be to set up? Where should i start?

Are there any pre-made projects/objects in MaxforLive that i can use/tweak without needing to learn all of the programming? 

Maybe i’m better off using some different plugins/softwares/ipad apps/DIY hacks that would allow me to see (any of) these parts of Live with a quick glance all of the time?
