Making Ableton Live's instrument interfaces for MU
Hi everyone!
I'm getting into Ableton Live (and max for live) and since I own a Lemur Legacy I want to maximize the usage of the three!
One of the coolest thing is that max for live opens a dedicated MU interface for every internal plug-in of Ableton Live.
The weird thing though is that this doesn't apply for Live's instrument... So I want to make some of them.
Is there any guide on how to achieve this? Or is anyone interested in helping me?
Thanks
hi tazio,
there are a bunch of instruments already done in MU by Sebastien harvey and the like a while ago on the jazzmutant site. They have stuff up as well on the Line site but its hit and miss for legacy stuff as its geared mostly towards the ipad crowd.
He did Analog and Operator and the like.
There is no real guide in doing it, the best advice i can give is:
WAtch Michael Chenetz stuff to know how MU stores and opens patches of MAxMsp and .jzlibs: http://vimeo.com/max4live
Then open up sebastien harvey's stuff from http://www.jazzmutant.com/lemuruser_main.php
And see how he does it - there is basically 2 externals that you need: Mu.LemurClient And Mu.Parameters (the 2nd one isn't exact but its something like that, you'll see it inside his patches). Those basically just hook up to the parameter you are watching in Live. You put your OSC into the title of it (as its an arguement) and you're good to go.
There are a few ppl into it these days over at the Line forum, so hit them up around there too.
I have done a NordLead one, but have been rather busy and haven't gotten into other MU projects like that one. I have a few other MU things up on the way, but they have been on the way for a year now :( time... it sucks...
If you need a few tips just hit me up and i might be able to guide you more as well.
Thank you protocol! I'm bouncing between this forum, liine's and Jazzmutant's one and it's been a lil tricky...
