MAX 5.1.8 Stopped working

I had to repair my Windows 7 installation but after I did this, MAX 5.1.8 stopped working. Strangely enough MAX runtime works fine. I tried the following:

uninstalling and re-installing.

Installing an earlier version (5.0.8) and then upgrading to 5.1.8: in this situation MAX 5.0.8 worked fine but when I upgraded to 5.1.8 it stopped working again (except for MAX Runtime)

Tried the installations above with both virus protection enabled and disabled.

I am running Windows 7 x64 (SP1) on an i7 950 3.06 MHz laptop.

Will appreciate any help.

Thanks

Rajmil

did you try to dump your preferences. It is possible the remained through uninstall and reinstall - i think it's this

C:UsersYourCompsNameAppDataRoamingCycling '74Max 5 Preferences Files

or

C:UsersYourCompsNameAppDataLocalCycling '74

It worked for me before.

Thanks. I deleted my preferences from the corresponding

AppDataRoamingCycling '74Max 5 Preferences Files

but this did not work (there was nothing in AppDataLocalCycling '74).

The only other odd thing I noticed (do not know if this is related) is that MAX runtime gives me a strange message, even after I deleted my search paths file. It seems to be picking paths from somewhere else because it reports

Warning: you have multiple files in your search path with the name slider.svg using this file: D:/Program Files (x86)/Cycling '74/Max 5.0/Cycling '74/object-palettes/slider.svg

in any case, thank you for providing this option.

What Anti-Virus app are you running? Try disabling or removing it.

I use AVAST. I did disable it in a couple of previous attenpts but still no luck.

Hi Rajmil,

Drop support a line and we'll try and get you sorted out.

support at cycling74 dot com

The slider.svg thing is probably unrelated. What happens if you search for slider.svg on that computer?

Cheers

Andrew
