Max 7 Externals
Hi all,
I run Mac, OS X Yosemite 10.10.1
I have previously, a few months ago installed a Miller Puckette External Object, [fiddle~] I did this via user/documents/max 7/packages/externals. These show up in Max no problem.
I just downloaded some much older externals from Tristan Jehan (http://web.media.mit.edu/~tristan/) and have placed them in the same folder, however they don't show up.
I have made sure that vecLib.framework is installed in /System/Library/Frameworks as per advice in the Tristan Jehan readme. I have also tried opening Max 7 in 32 and 64 bit. Nothing's worked at all and have spent all day trying to figure this out so at this point am quite stumped and am hoping someone can help me.
Attached is screenshot of externals folder.
* I have just noticed that [bonk~] is the only external that loads with inlets/outlets. [fiddle~] and another one from the same Miller Puckette installation/download, [centroid~] both come up red with no inlets/outlets. Have also attached screenshot of this.
Help will be much appreciated. Really don't know where to go from here.
Cheers.
You just need to create a specific sub folder structure.
You can have your main folder be for example tristan~
Then inside this, all the .mxo files need to be in a folder called externals and all the .maxhelp files in a folder called help
Cheers
in this folder
user/documents/max 7/packages/externals ?
or in other place ?
me too have this problem i 've installe also max 6.1.9 and Max must take for example media file from max 6 folder, is this correct ?
ca u help me to understand ?
thank
Thanks Zancudo. That did the trick!
Luxi, you should just copy all your external objects from your Max 6 External Folder over to user/documents/max 7/packages/externals. And as Zancudo mentioned, in this exact folder, make two folders - Externals, and Help. Then put the .mxo's in Externals, and .maxhelp in Help.
Hope that helps. Thanks again Zancudo.
