Max 7 running 32-bit, 64-bit and packages
When I installed Max7 two 'Packages' folders were created - one in Documents/Max7/Packages and the other in Users/Shared/Max7/Packages. Each of the two Max7 'modes' (32/64bit) needs a separate set of third-party externals (Ircam's SPAT, for example) - a 32-bit version and 64-bit versions respectively. When I place both (the 32-bit and 64-bit versions) in one of the Packages folders mentioned above only Max7 in 32-mode launches these externals properly. When I open the 64-bit version of Max7 (duplicated Max7 with 32-bit unchecked) and launch the third-party externals (Spat 64bit), the externals do not work as Max7 by default tries to open the 32-bit Spat. Any ideas how can I separate the 32-bit from the 64-bit packages?
Thank you.
Miroslav
Hi,
Regarding Ircam Spat, you dont need two different packages.
(In the case of Spat, 32 or 64 bits refers to the DSP chain, not the CPU architecture).
Have a look at the Release Notes (pdf).
The so-called 'Spat-64 bit' is compatible with Max 7 running in both 32 or 64 bit mode.

Hi TCarpent,
great! indeed works fine. Thank you for clarifying the 32-vs-64-bit Max.
Best,
