max and logic pro x
Hello,
Is there a documentation about how to use max with logic pro X ?
Thanks
Hi ant, Not that I know of.
Parameter Control:
Basically it comes down to on/off notes and variable knobs. Both between 0-127 right.
So use noteout and ctlout
Sound:
if you want to record your MaxMSP sounds in Logic , download and use
Soundflower.
If you have any questions I'll try to help

Hi Ant, AFAIK there's no documentation, but also AFAIK it's not difficult.
I don't have Logic Pro X, but I've got Logic Pro 9, and the way it works is like what Phiol said: if you have Max running its 2 virtual MIDI ports (to/from Max 1 and to/from Max 2) appear in Logic's "Port" instrument parameters. Just select, for example, "from Max 1" instead of one of your MIDI interface's ports. And that'll handle all sorts of MIDI messages. In Max Options -> MIDI Setup… these 2 ports can be given abbreviated names so you can, for example, just send notes to [noteout a 1].
Also as Phiol said, audio can be handled with SoundFlower. It used to be developed by Cycling74 (so you'd reckon it'd work well with Max, eh?) and my Googling indicates that it's the best for Macs. Like Max's virtual MIDI ports, SoundFlower's virtual audio ports just appear in the appropriate places in Logic.
HTH and I hope I haven't insulted your intelligence, Bill
