Max and OSX MIDI setup problem (double-messages)
Hello
There's something wrong with the MIDI setup of my computer and / or Max/MSP.
I use a Novation Remote 25 keyboard/control surface for live Max/MSP control. The computer is a black Macbook with a RME Fireface 400 audio and MIDI interface.
* When there is NO MIDI cable between the Fireface and the Remote 25, eveything works normally. In this case, the Remote is connected to the computer in USB MIDI mode.
* When the Remote is MIDI-connected to the Fireface, the control change messages are received two times by Max/MSP, using either the Remote USB MIDI port or the Fireface MIDI port inside Max.
What is wrong here ? How can I tell the computer to completely IGNORE the Remote 25 USB MIDI port ? In "Audio and MIDI configuration" (Mac OS X), I wasn't able to "delete" the Remote 25 (grayed controls). Sorry, I'm not an OS X expert, maybe this is something obvious ...
Thanks for your help
Best regards
J
unless i misunderstand you, i dont think this has anything to do with osx audio midi setup application. It's just a case of setting a specific midi port, rather than the default port setting - which is all devices!
use the port message to control the max midi objects. that way, you can tell them to receive from only one midi port. alternatively, you could double click on each midi object to select it within a menu.

Hello,
you send from the keyboard midi messages twice: from the usb port and
to the RME midi port.
It isn't an OSX problem, just select in Max the midi port for the
ReMote keyboard in the objet you use to import midi data. On the
contrary Max receives on all ports

actually that was related to wrong offsets in the MIDI setup page
thanks for your replies anyway

Just pull the plug, no matter which one, you need only one...
(If the Remote gets its power via USB, better pull the MIDI plug... ;-)
Or in other words, if you send it twice, you should expect to receive it
twice...
