I'm really new at max. so I'm trying to output this basic patch out to soundflower so I can use ableton to record my output. So far I go to options -> dsp status -> select driver my audio interface EDIROL FA 101, but I'm unable to select my output as soundflower, any help?

By unable to set it - do you mean it is not there or it is there & you can't click on it? Have you set up your audio midi? if you go to DSP and click on audio driver set up, see if Soundflower appears there - just to check, you may need to create an aggregate device.

I mean that it's greyed out and I can't select anything from the drop down menu. What exactly is an aggregate device?
