Max MSP volume scaling?
Hi,
so i'm working on a program where you drag and drop samples into a playlist that is then run through a grainstretch external then 8 delays that can be turned on or off to create cool ambient textures, with all the parameters of the delays and grainstretch controllable with dials. i've reached a bit of a problem, as when all the delays are running the level kicks up quite a bit meaning i have to have the live.gain slider down to -20b at the least to avoid any clipping noises. Every time i enter max the slider always resets to zero and when i come to export the program i'm pretty sure it won't export with the slider set to -20db, so i was wondering is there a way to scale the output from the live.gain? as in so the output through scaling is always 20db lower meaning the slider can be set at 0db in the default position, but constantly be 20db quieter, kind of acting like a signal pad. i've done a fair bit of googling on this subject but can't seem to find any information regarding my problem, can anyone help?
thanks,
joe
Multiplying the amplitude by 0.1 is the same as reducing it by 20 dB.
You can also set an initial value for live.gain~ in its Inspector. ("Initial Enable" and "Initial")
that works, thank you! the email notification didn't come through so i had no idea of your reply at the time
