Hi,
I purchased a new Mac computer with OSX 10.5.2.
However after installing and running Max I get the following message in the max window:

• error: can't fragload ezadc~ (missing ), err -4
• error: can't fragload ezdac~ (missing ), err -4
• error: can't fragload gain~ (missing ), err -4

Try removing your preferences in ~/Library/Preferences/Max 4.6
Preferences/. It should be fine after relaunching Max then.

Dear Emmanuel,
Thankx for your message.
But I don't have a Max 4.6 Preferences Folder in the Prefereces Folder of Library. Nor in my Power Book G4, (where Max runs fine) nor in my new OS 10.5.2 Intel Mac Book Pro.

kind regards

Ok. Thank you. This finally solved the problem.

It is encouraging that Max 4.6 seems to be running smoothly on Leopard.
However, I am still reluctant to change fearing that some other applications
I use regularly will not work. (Adobe, Peak, Digital Performer, etc.). I am
also fearing the possible double whammy of upgrading to Leopard AND Max 5
when it comes out.

Is anyone keeping a list of applications that DO NOT yet run on 10.5?

Hi,

I upgraded to 10.5 when it first came out, and everything here seems to be just fine. My Adobe CS3 install is running perfectly, as is Max and Bias Peak Pro. I can't vouche for the other apps you mention, though.

FWIW, Peak (both v5 and v6) work on Leopard, as do Cubase and Waves,
which is why I finally upgraded my laptop a week ago. All ok so far.

Max has been running well for me on 10.5.2 so far, however I have a new patch that seems very unstable. If I try to change any signal connections while the dac~ is on, I usually get very loud clicks (that can be seen across the 8 peak meters I have in the patch) and occasionally a straight up crash. It's probably not a great idea to change signal connections while DSP is on, but it's never been a problem for me before.
The patch uses the newest version of pitch~, so maybe that's the culprit. Other than that, it's just many cycle~ and asdr~ objects, as well as a lot of mute~.
I should also mention that the patch seems to work fine once I have it locked and running.

Dear Gary,

I am running Max/MSP, Photoshop CS3, Peak 5, Audio Sculpt 2.1, PD-
extend, PWGL, and a bunch of other things, even SoundHack without a
problem on 10.5.2.
The only application giving me nightmares is Finale 2008 even with the
last update.

Best,

James

fwiw, this has always been the case (for me and i think everyone).
signal connections made while dsp is on are not advised.

also fwiw, max works perfectly for me on leopard, as well as most of my other apps (although recently, that's just included max and xcode, which is great in leopard).

My experience of Leopard is that

(i) all my audio applications, plug-ins, VST instruments and
interfaces work perfectly
(ii) Apple's Mail program, and the Finder, keep crashing

And Yamaha's StudioManager too (with plug-ins for the 01v, 02r), but
since a couple of days only.

The only thing I've encountered that really isn't compatible yet is the
"wacom" external. It takes (and keeps) control of the mouse as soon as Max
goes out of focus.

My 2 cents.
