I am trying to find a way for max to control and receive information from osx dictation tool. I tried looking into the aka.listen, but does not seem to work in max 7. I also researces if i can control it from macs Terminal app, but does not seem to be possible. I then found out that i can access the speech recognition server with an applescript, but it seems like this only enable you to program your computer to react to verbal commands, and not as a dictation tool. I am out of ideas. Anyone have some other way of achieving my goal? Any help would be much apreciated!!

Hi, this is not a solution, but I also have this problem -
I have a student with an injury that means she can point and click but cannot type. Is there a way to use the osx dictation tool to enter text into MAX object boxes?
In other words, I want to be able to make a new object, have its cursor flashing ready to accept the object name, and fill it using the dictation tool.
Any takers?

Ok - so from C74 tech support: Max doesn't support this kind of dictation.

Pretty poor I think in terms of accessibility but there you go.

However, I found a workaround for my own situation on the Mac (El Capitan), but it's not addressing your issue Zangpa - I open TextEdit, switch on dictation (FnFn), speak the name of the object I want to create (saying the object name, or object name, 'no space', 'tilde' for audio objects), using 'select all', 'lowercase' to get rid of the auto-capitalise, then 'select all', 'copy' to copy the object name to the clipboard, then cmd-V into a new object in Max. Clunky, but it works for now.
