Max path problem

i don't even know how to properly title this, because the problem is so weird. So i'll try to explain:
If I already saved a patcher and then hit Cmd+S (Save shortcut), then the "Save As" dialog appears. This is extremely painful as i'm having this tic to always hit Cmd+S while working. So basically Max doesn't realize that a file is already having a path it's saved on. Also Max seems to have trouble with paths in general. If I created a patcher that i want to use as an abstraction in another patcher Max just doesn't find it! (Filepaths are set, of course). Also if I try to load buffers (even with a read message and I choose the file directly via dialog) it just does nothing!
I was using Max 6.0.8., updated to 6.1.1. yesterday (in an attempt to fix that problem). Also I already reinstalled MacOS (yes that's right, the problem continued afterwards) and the permissions are all set to read and write. So everything should work just fine, it just doesn't....

You need to contact C74 tech support on this. It's not normal behavior by any means.
One thing comes to mind. You wouldn't happen to have multiple copies of the same abstractions within your search path would you? This can sometimes make Max cranky.
