Max Runtime 5 / Ableton Live - no to/from MAX/MSP Midi Ports
I am trying to use the Novation Launchpad with a monome emulation called nonome (written in max). I am using the Ableton Live Launchpad Edition; however, I can't find the necessary MIDI Ports to send any MIDI Data to Live, the only ports showing up in the MIDI-Settings Page are my Launchpad and the Microsoft Stuff (Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth, Microsoft Synthesizer)
So why aren't there any virtual MIDI Ports from Max?
The nonome is supposed to work as a bridge between the launchpad and the monome max patches.
So the nonome itself don´t send out any midi (except for the messages to the launchpad), it sends out OSC, formatted for the _mlr patch by default.
Are you talking about the midi settings in Max runtime or Live?
are you using max for live?
I guess no.
So you need soundflower, or something that can route midi flow inside the OS.
midiYoke works fine too.
I just didn't describe precise enough, of course nonome won't send any MIDI, but any other app I load within the Max Runtime (like mlr, polygome...). midiYoke works like a charm, however. Thanks a lot!
Hello. I am having the same problem. I can't find the Midi port out to Max in Ableton Live. I would like to start working with sound reactive visuals but I just can't make it work because I can't find the midi port out to max in Ableton Live. Please help.
joao, put an empty MAX midi effect or instrument on a midi track. there will be a midi in inside the patch. that's all we get until something changes!
Hey Mellon, I've donw what you said and I only get a '1-Midi' out. No Max mid out port in the Ableton Settings though.
i think you need to use a seperate program to route midi between the two when not going the max4live route.
