Max Tutorials on Video not loading and crashing
Just bought Max a little while ago and have been diving into the tutorials after I spent a few hours tinkering with youtube instructionals. I've so far vastly preferred the built-in tutorials. I've gotten to approximately #12 this evening when something unfortunate has blocked my progress.
Max 6 > Help > Max Tutorials > Movie Playback > "Open the Tutorial Patcher"
The new window is "12mMoviePlayback."
Immediately the imovie object sends an error: "countdown15.mov: error opening file."
If I try to toggle on the movie anyway, Max crashes in its entirety. Clicking read simply fires the error.
What do I do to get "countdown15.mov" to be loaded in?
As far as I can tell the actual file isn't even on my computer, but I have zero idea where Max is looking for the file.
I have updated Quicktime to its most recent version, by the way.
Thank you for any help!
Edit: Figured I would just skip the tutorial and move on to the next one, but it appears to suffer from pretty much the same behavior :(
As ever, it's helpful to know what version of the software you're running, what platform you're running on, and what version of the OS you have running on your machine.
Ghah. But of course!
I'm running Max 6.1.2 on a Windows 7 64-bit OS.
Sorry about that!
you should use the 32 bit version to run through the tutorials.
you can download it the same place you found the 64 bit version, and they can co-exist on the same machine with no problems.
the 64 bit version of jit.qt.movie is unable to load anything other than wmv files, at this time.
Much thanks, Mr. Ramirez.
Is there any place where I can find the discrepancies between the 64 and 32 bit versions? Also, is the jit.qt.movie the same as the imovie player? Because that's the one referenced in the tutorial. Either way, downloading the new one. Thank you for the tip! :)
