max user with beginner questions in m4l
hi -
im no expert but a comfortable max user. just got live and am fighting with what seems to be the simplest set of problems:
1. whats the most accurate way to have the click (metronome) of ableton bang inside a m4l patch? at the moment im using transport object and change object, but i need the best synch possible and i can only imagine there is an easier way to do this?
2. how do i start a new (clear) m4l patch? (as apposed to opening a ready made one and 'save as..' etc?
3. is there any way to specify 'notein' and 'noteout' objects in m4l like in max (i.e. double click and some routing options are made available)?
thanks,
josh
I'm not sure about the first one, but for 2. in the live browser double click on Max Instrument, Max Midi Effect or Max Audio Effect and you will get a blank device. Audio and midi routing in M4L is handled by Live so you cant select the routhings in the object. It is possible to use send and receive objects between different devices in the same set but I've read it can be unreliable regarding timing.
Ad #1. The standard method to sync m4l with live is the transport object banged with a quantized metro at appropriate intervals, as shown in the patch for quarter notes.
There is no need for a change object.
