Max5, Selected text very hard to read

I can't find the way to change the background color of the text when I select it in an object.
It is set to a dark grey (maybe dark blue), if the tex'st color is black the contrast is very poor and make it very akward to read.

I tried all the "factory" settings from "objects defaults" window, tried to change the colors in preferences, tried to change my mac finder's selection color....
No way.

attached is a screenshot of a "prepend set1" with "pend" selected, I hope this will help.
