MaxMSP 8 Channel Panner
Hi all,
How an 8 channel panner is created in MaxMSP?
Thanks,
Alan
One easy way is to use vbapan~ or ambipan~ from CICM

And if you want to create it yourself, analyze the "Pan4S" example in MSP
examples. The trickiest thing to do to convert it to 8 channels will be to
generate a pan8.aif instead of the pan4.aif.

Thanks J-F.
Alan
Here's an 8-channel mod of pan4s, including inlets to alter the width and ambient min amp of the incoming sound.
best,
Zachary
Thank you Zachary!

Hi alen!
Are you pc or mac?
hi, are there any updates to this?
especially peoples opinions on which is the best 8 channel/octophonic panner to use within a max patch that seeks to diffuse a stereo file into an 8 channel set up.
please define "best".
there are many ways how to build that, and how it should look like all depends on what you need.
for example, if you need to modulate it at signal rate, it should be built in a totally different way.

i guess in terms of best, i mean - in degrees of importance.....
1. stable
2. easy to implement
3. giving a quality of pan that is suitable for a live performance.
4. cpu resource light
someone passed on this link to me, people may find it helpful
if anyone can tell me the plusses or minuses of using the ICST as apposed to the CICM panners, that would be much appreciated!
