MaxMSP and M-Audio FireWire Solo not working together?
Newb here, trying to help someone out, so bear with me...
For some reason, I get no sound when using CoreAudio FireWire Solo Multichannel as my driver in MaxMSP. At one point, I briefly got a test tone to come out, but it stopped sounding in under a minute and I could not reproduce any audio in MaxMSP through the M-Audio interface, even after multiple restarts. Since then, it's been hit or miss (mostly miss) when trying to get ANY audio to come out of MaxMSP and stay on, even when using the internal soundcard. The only audio that comes out through MaxMSP is via midi input. I tested out some midi tutorials and I can generate piano and simple drum sounds, seemingly without problem. So far, it seems like I run into problems when using "cycle~" and/or "dac~". See below:

Whenever I try to do that same tutorial, the sound gets killed after touching flonum, that is, if it even begins producing sound. If I do get the sound to start, it won't start again after I stop the tone.
I have read about many people having problems with M-Audio interfaces in MaxMSP, but I'm really hoping this isn't the problem because now it doesn't even seem like I can get things to work properly through the internal soundcard.

Does the interface work for other audio, like iTunes or other DAW software?
I have two M-Audio firewire interfaces (410 & 610) and have not had any trouble with them in Max. I HAVE had trouble with them, though, when my computer has gone to sleep, but the problem is system wide, not just in Max. I would suggest downloading the most recent driver for the interface and running the "Uninstaller" first. After a reboot, run the Installer. Do so without the interface connected. After the driver installation has completed, power off your Mac, connect the firewire cable, turn the interface on, and then boot up your Mac. Check the Audio/MIDI Setup application to ensure that the M-Audio is properly working. Then check the Sound system preference to see if your computer is using the interface for its system sounds and beeps. If that all checks out, then launch Max and check the DSP settings. Make sure you have the M-Audio chosen as the driver and for the input and output.
First, let me say "thanks" for the response. :)
1.) The interface works perfectly in Logic Pro 8, Reason 4, Ableton Live 8, and iTunes.
2.) I have the most recent driver for the interface, but I will uninstall and reinstall again, making sure to run the uninstaller first and follow your steps.
I've been trying to figure this out for about a day and a half and I'm close to giving up and waving the white flag.
I'll post my results in a bit.
I'm just going to come back to this when I have more time. Will update if I figure something out.
