MaxMSP and Mac OS 10.4.11
Still on Mac OS Tiger here! A few days ago I upgraded my system from Mac
OS X 10.4.10 to 10.4.11 which resulted in a lot of clicks and pops in
the sound output from MaxMSP. Other software like iTunes wasn't
affectet. I spent a lot of time downgrading the system to 10.4.10 again.
Now I wonder if its finally time to give up on Tiger and move to Mac OS
Leopard instead, and are curious to know of any experiences/issues with
10.5.2 and MaxMSP?
I use a MacBook Pro 2.2 GHz and MaxMSP 4.3.6.

Try turning your airport off when using Max. It helps my Macbook running 10.4.11
I'm on OSX 10.5.2, max 4.6.3, MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz duo, build-in
converter or motu & everything works fine...

everything is working but Pluggo, Mode and Hipno are not working as
audio units or VST's in my other host DAW software !!

Yes - that would make sense. Realised I was wrong in my first mail. I
actually WAS at 10.4.11 before the problem arised. The update that was
causing the problems included the Airport Extreme update + something
more i forgot what was...
Will check up on it, but not till after this evenings concert :-)

Here's my Stupid Apple Question of the day:
How can we find out if/when Apple fixes this?

If you download fresh copies of the installers from Cycling's site and
install them, I believe that Pluggo, Mode, Hipno, etc. will work again
for you.
Speaking of Hipno, did everyone see the review in Recording Magazine
this month ;-).
best,
Tim

Thank you Tim !
I have just deleted all the old files with the "Pluggo cleaner" and
then reinstalled Hipno, Mode and Pluggo.
Now it works again in all programs.

Yes - it was certainly the AirPort Extreme update 2008-001 that was
causing problems. I'm now on a 10.4.11 system, totally up-to-date except
the AirPort Extreme update, and everythig is fine :-)

Yep, when I turn off airport the interruptions disappear. I note that with airport on the CPU utilization goes way up, like bouncing off 100%. Deep breath and thanks to you all. -jc

There is currently a very nice aroma floating out of the Tap.Tools 3
kitchen :-).
There will be a beta version of Tap.Tools 3 available for all
registered users (but registered users only) of Tap.Tools 2 at the
same time that Max 5 is released. A full release of Tap.Tools 3 will
hopefully be available to all a couple of weeks later.
Electrotap is following the same the policy as Cycling '74 w/r/t to
free updates for folks who bought Tap.Tools 2 back through October.
The upgrade pricing has not been made available yet, but it's pretty
cheap -- not much more than a pound of my favorite coffee beans.
best,
Tim

Hi Tim,
That's good news! Depending on how much coffee you need to do your C++ooking, TT3 should provide you with at least a few months worth of beans then, I guess ;)
Thank you for the update. I'm looking forward to playing with the beta, especially since Max 5 offers many rounded corners but not many new objects...
Regards,
Klaas-Jan
