MaxMSP File player
Hi everybody!
Does it actually exist? Is there a software which will play the .mxf file without having to install the entire MaxMSP developer application? Similarly to Flash Player plays the flash App without having to install the entire developer software.
This way I can easily run my applications and send them to my friends who could easily also play my apps.
If it doesn't exist, maybe Cycling '74 could consider making one? I think that would be great.
Kind regards

You can easily make standalone applications with Max, which will work
on your friends computer without forcing them to install Max but your

Yes, its called Max runtime
If its likely that a project evolves and needs updates, I usually demand
to install a complete Max. This is more hassle in the beginning, but
less later...
The complete install will come with a runtime always. If you zip Max/MSP
then only the runtime is active...
With Max 5 you need to do that, as there is no separate runtime yet...
The advantage of the complete install is, that you can find and use some
of the inspectors, if you forget to include all the glory details into
your mxf...
The other advantage is, that your mxf is cross platform unless you
included some 3rd party externals. Even then you might get it running by
providing the platform specific external seperately...

If its a single application you want to distribute, you can create a
standalone, which is in fact just the runtime with your mxf embedded...
But any update would require a complete big download of basically the
same again. The mxf is small...
