is there any way to convert the .mxb file of a max/msp patch to a pure data patch???

Save as text file. Rename with "pat" extension. Open in Pure data.

That will certainly not work. Someone was working on a Max->PD
converter at some point, but I don't remember who/where/what anymore.
Probably a search through the archives will turn something up.

i see i dont think cycle is the thing i was looking for...
secondly i think i am able to write code for a converter,at least try, but i need a kind of glossary for the objects from both programms (max and pd)??is there or anybody who can give info on this???

It works here (Max 4.6.3 and Pd version 0.38.4-extended-RC8).
As an example I opened yafrd2 which is an abstraction in the examples. See this

In this case Pd doesn't know zmap, tapin, tapout.

Christof Czaja, the author of cyclone seems to know more about it as
even the cycling crew. You should get in contact with him, he once
converted an old 68000 Max file for me...

And of course, the libraries of Max and Pd have a lot common objects,
but some are very different. The automatic conversion will only give you
a starting point. Max has so many UI elements which just don't exist in
Pd, that this will always require some (or a lot) adjustments by hand...

Its certainly not like converting a Pascal program into C-code...
