Max/MSP Jitter Developer needed
Dear all
We are currently looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Max/MSP/Jitter developer to work with us on a new public art project, and as this is the place I always come for advice on my own development, I thought that this would be a good place to begin the search.
The project will take the form of a multi-site networked game, running concurrently in three city centres in the North-East of England for approximately 4 days at the end of October. The game is created entirely with projected light, using motion tracking to enable pedestrian interaction. We have used Max/MSP/Jitter for many of our works, and have extensive experience of this kind of project, but we are looking for assistance for this project due to the limited development time - plus, it's always interesting and inspiring to get another perspective on how to approach a technical challenge like this.
The work would be on a short-term contract basis, and at the moment I want to remain as flexible as possible about location, time commitment and so-on: as a rough guide, I'm imagining that we'll be looking at somewhere in the region of 30 days work between now and the beginning of November. We are based in Yorkshire and London, so proximity to either would be great. Availability around the time of the project is also important to us, but not absolutely vital, depending on the circumstances.
To give you an idea of the kind of work involved, here's some of the areas that we commonly find we're using:
Camera input, software keystone correction, motion detection + blob analysis (currently using cv.jit library)
OpenGL + GLSL programming
Java externals
Lua scripts with direct openGL calls
Modelling physical behaviours: Newtonian physics, fluid dynamics, magnetic + gravitational forces
Simple AI routines (boids/flocking behaviours)
For this particular project, we're also going to need to find a solution to the network communications: we've done this in the past with Flash Media Server and (going back a bit now) Shockwave Multiuser Server: but we're in the 21st century now, so need to identify an appropriate approach.... suggestions on a postcard...
For details of our previous work, which might give you a flavour of the kind of project, have a look at our website: http://www.kma.co.uk .
If you are interested in the work, please send details of your past experience, projects, websites, CV (if available) etc to tom@kma.co.uk. We'll be gathering responses over the next 2 weeks with a view to beginning work in August.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Best wishes
Tom
Kudos for your work---highly creative, inspirational, and beautifully executed. Getting the audience to participate like this is really empowering and raises the artistic bar in a lot of ways.
Looking forward to more!
