Max/MSP - Student upgrade (free) -> MAx/MSP/Jitter?

Ohmu's icon

I just noticed one thing that might be really _really_ nice, or just something that has been mistyped.

Looking at: https://cycling74.com/purchase/discounts (click on Student discounts in the top right corner)

We can see:
Permanent Max/MSP/Jitter 5 Upgrade Authorization for $109.45
- Student must already own Max/MSP 4 or newer
-- Free to students who purchased Max/MSP after October 1, 2007
- One purchase per student

So, does this in reality mean that even if I only bought Max/MSP (at the price of 250$) I will get a free upgrade to Max/MSP/Jitter 5 (which incidentally has the same discount price of 250$)? Or am I missing some important detail?

I noticed this: "Please note the we have eliminated the option of Max/MSP without Jitter for academic and student versions." (See at the bottom of the page).

I truly hope this means that we are in for the full pack, that'd be so nice of C'74!

Wow. I'm completely confused by the upgrade options and the store's pages. I am a student entitled to an educational discount and I already own Max/MSP 4.6.3 and want to upgrade to Max/MSP 5 (with or without Jitter). These are my two options. The second option is cheaper than the first and I don't understand why...

Max/MSP 5 Upgrade (download)     Version 5 for Mac and Windows. Upgrade for Max/MSP owners.     $xxx

Max/MSP 5 Upgrade plus Jitter (download)     Version 5 for Mac and Windows. Upgrade for Max/MSP owners who are adding on Jitter.     $xxx

cebec these are both for non-jitter owners... the 1st one you mentionied upgrades your max/msp, the second one also upgrades it, but also purchases jitter.

:)

I still can't find the upgrade for post 11/1 purchasers :( I'll keep looking

Hi,

I think it's not possible to update without Jitter for an educational
discount so I think you have to purchase the Max/MSP 5 Upgrade plus
Jitter (download).

All the best

I'm guessing I missed this part before. On https://cycling74.com/purchase/discounts it reads (at the top)" Max/MSP (without Jitter) is now a retail-only product, no longer available for educational institutions or students. Max/MSP 5 student and academic upgrades include Jitter."

So I am taking it that since I am eligible for the free upgrade from my previously bought Max/MSP 4.6.3 (january this year) I should be getting Jitter along with that.

Fred,

I don't think so, I think you'll have to purchase the Max/MSP 5
Upgrade plus Jitter.

But hope I am wrong !

The only student version is Max/MSP/Jitter so if you have a Max/MSP student you will get Jitter for nothing. As there is no student licence for Max/MSP, this is the only one that you can upgrade to.

I purchasd Max/MSP in Apr - so I'll get the upgrade + Jitter for free. That's great!

You should all be receiving an email in the next day or so with instructions and info regarding upgrades. In the meantime, feel free to download and use Max 5 in free 30-day demo mode.

Thanks for your patience.
