Max/MSP to send CV to Analog Synth
I'm new with Max and i'm absolutely in love, but i would like to use it for sending CV (Control Voltage) to my Analog Modular Synth. I know i'd need a DC coupled audio interface and i know also all the "non Max" needs. But sincerely i have no idea of how this could be done.
Could you guys help to find some resources to do this????
Yes i know Stretta has a patch to send CV but really analyzing his patch i can`t see the light, so maybe i need to learn from zero.....?
Here is a simple patch from Wetterberg that I found helpful..
also you need the right cable as well... or else something from Expert Sleeper.
basically you just have to scale the midi properly, depending on the midi/cv-interface.
Thanks Grizzle i'll study it. Xidance I don't want Midi to CV as i already have modules for that i have ES-3 from Expert sleepers and an ADAT connection to ES-3.
Maybe i should have told that from the beginning I use Expert sleepers ES-3 i just want to make my own patches to send CV.
http://www.expert-sleepers.co.uk/es3.html here you can see it specifications
Thanx
You can actually do it directly through a serial connection (USB), using ADDAC's Voltage Controlled Computer (http://www.addacsystem.com/product/addac000-series/addac001-vcc-voltage-controlled-computer).
It's basically an arduino based module, so very easy to interface with USB and also built custom code.
Cheers

Can't you just send audio from Max to your ES-3 thru your Adat interface ?
Coincidentally, I just spent some time yesterday soldering some y-cables to go from my Motu 828 to my Doepfer. I did not have the time to give it some proper testing but it seems to work fine when sending a simple slow phasor~ output. Nice thing is that for each channel you get the generated voltage + a inversed version. Twice as fun !
If needed, the cable wiring is explained on ES's site : http://www.expert-sleepers.co.uk/siwacompatibility.html (see "A note on cables" section)

Jin,
yes i can send audio with the ES-3, and i don't need special cable, only ADAT and obviously the patch cables
There are many threads on the Muffwiggler forums on doing this. Many examples use reaktor but the concept is the same. There are links to info on the cables, interfaces, and approaches here: http://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13703
I have a MOTU ultralite. I have plugged a cable from an audio output from there into my modular and fired a cycle~ at it and it works.
