MIDI interface, XY and pedal, anyone ideas?

Hi people, for a specific max/msp set i need a foot midi pedal to control amplitude, and a XY controller for the panning in 4 channels.

I live in Europe (Netherlands) and these things are not obvious to find.

I though of using the XY space in the Korg Nano Pad, but i dont' know if i can use it for control of two MIDI parameters in max, anyone has any experience with that?

And for the foot pedal?
Thanx
Alberto

A foot pedal with an XY controller? I have never seen one...

In general your foot is a pretty clumsy appendage, which is
why most foot controllers tend to be large buttons or pedals.

I use an FCB1010, works great with Max.

Sorry i expressed badly: i mean a foot controller for the volume
and then another controller XY for the panning. Two different things. I checked the FCB looks great but i wanted just a simple thingy.

Whatever foot controller will work as long as you find an interface to plug it. Most of the MIDI keyboards will accept such a pedal and convert the data to MIDI controllers. Too bad there is no such an input on the nanoPad!

There are also USB converters around, like this one:

The nano pad will work without problem to send to MIDI controllers to Max.

Your nanoPad XY controller should work fine for two continuous control values, X, and Y! You'll need to use the "Korg Kontrol Editer" software to assign specific midi control numbers to each axis, then simply catch those with max via ctlin. Another "overkill" solution would be the "softStep" from http://www.keithmcmillen.com/products/softstep/

Have fun.

you can be sure that all hardware devices with an XY pad and midiout or usb-midiout send 2 controllers, so that you can use them in maxmsp the normal way.

@henryovaller: try to rephrase "how do i map?" and supply what you already got in your patch to get a more detailed answer.
