I'm confused by something very basic. It seems like to be MIDI "mappable" in Live, a UI object needs to have its Parameter Visibility attribute set to "Automated and stored". The problem is that I am creating my own custom Arrangement Record button. I need to map it to a MIDI message, but I don't want to record automation for it. Is there any other way to make an object mappable? Do I really need to create my own mapping mechanism for the device?

I have the same problem. Cycling '74 please make a new Parameter Visibility mode.

It's not a cycling/max thing, it's how parameters/mapping/automation is are handled in Live (at least that's what I am guessing). If you want it to be mappable, it must also be automatable. If you don't want to write automation, you'll have to route MIDI into the device either from the track it is on, or with a send/receive pair from another device.
