Midi map for LPD8 Pad controller

Just got one of those Akai pad controllers. Since i am pretty new to the midi controllers, wandering if someone could answer this question, can i utilize the 8 pads to control 8 different parameters via their velocity? The knobs i got down (at least i think i do). Any help is appreaciated. Below is the map.

You're probably going about it wrong, but this should complete the approach that you've chosen.

Max Patch
Copy patch and select New From Clipboard in Max.

The simpler route would be to just hit the "cc" button on your LPD8 and make each button send controller data instead of note values. At which point, it's all mappable in Live and your entire patch becomes superfluous. Hit the "pad" button to change back to note values.

...or, if simple's not your thing, you could just go crazy with it in your patch. get CC values from the knobs, get a different set of CC values from the pads in CC mode, and also get velocity values from the notes. Now you've got 24 parameters.

Not enough? Try 96. Hold the "program" button and hit pads 1, 2, 3 or 4 to toggle between different pages.

Of course, you'll want to download the editor from Akai to ensure there's no overlap. That can be found here: http://www.akaipro.com/lpd8

You might be able to do something with the "prog chng" button as well, but if you can keep track of 96 paramaters out of eight knobs and eight pads, you're already smarter than me.

Melon is simple program (which works on OS X) extending possibilities of Akai LPD8. It’s free and ready to use with MaxMSP Runtime. It gives you:

- one touch preset change
- 32 knobs with memory
- 16 knobs (momentary mode only; velocity on/off possible)

I hope you will find it helpful. Enjoy!
