Midi sync feature request

It would be awesome if the built in extra>global transport had built in midi sync support. incidently, is there somewhere I can read about how to get a proper midi sync going? I tried rtin and that seems offbeat, and sync only outputs phasor, when I need a bang for my patch, I would just use edge but apparently sync~ is a whole note so it wouldn't have much tempo resolution right? so whats the best way to go about this?

I definately hear you on this one. im using the [rtin] right now and not getting great results, dont think its due to max though. Im gonna check out [hostcontrol~], its rewire based and looks a bit tighter...If you have a rewire enabled master, maybe check it out...

i do but my goal is to be able to sync with my band mates computers running ableton, so I would need some midi external input

sorry, meant to say [hostsync~], maybe you could just make a patch for your band mate's computer, then send his hostsync~ info via OSC, with a network cable...Or just convert to standard MIDI notes, ccs, and send with a MIDI cable. How do you get his rtin info now?
Sorry, if you already thought of this...

that seems like a good method, though Im not sure if I follow the details at this very tired 330am state. Is there a way you could post this as a patch?

Now Im thinking there should be a midisync object, because all that seems like a rather convoluted method to make something that should be readily accessible. maybe even just adding such to a new sync~ outlet. seems like that would fit in with the new methods of 1/16 note thought proecess, to have such things in a sync object.

no luck with rewire, ableton seems to not show up as rewire host or client.. hmm

maybe im also just to tired to be thinking about this right now,

me sleep now

Max Patch
Copy patch and select New From Clipboard in Max.

I had it in Max 4, but should work fine with a fiver too.

p.s. double vision halves the precision... a good sleep helps!

Ciao
