Mira - sound directly from iPad?

Hi All,

I have a Mira patch – rather I have a Max patch that has a Mira object and it is working great, using the pitch, roll and yaw of the iPad to generate sounds. Of course it is the Max patch on the laptop that is generating the sound, which I am then sending to a bluetooth speaker near the iPad, which of course has a lag.

My question is, is it possible to have the iPad/Mira app play the sounds? If not, what are my Max/MSP options for having the iPad play the sounds generated from its roll/pitch/yaw?

I hope this question makes sense!

No. You see that Mira is just a 'mirror' of some basic UI elements of Max. There are no DSP or DVP functionality in Mira.

None. Max Plays the sounds from computer.

Most likely, 99%, the lag comes from bluetooth. I have tested bluetooth speakers extensively. They suck. I think we are still 10 or 20 years out from having 100 wireless celestial speaker system.

Someone might chime in and contradict my assessment with alternative options!

Thanks @WIL, I thought that was the case but I remained hopeful just in case :)

Yes 100% definitely the lag comes from Bluetooth.

Unless I'm mistaken, RNBO doesn't build for iPad (am I mistaken?), so our only choice is to build for a Raspberry Pi with a IMU and a DAC and speaker, and run the patch on it and place it on our moving unit. It's a shame because it would be so much easier if we could just have the iPad do it.
