Misbehaving Groove...

I have a problem with groove which is that upon loading it's related buffer for the first time when the patch is opened, the groove plays its sample. As each buffer and it's related groove are in their own separate poly, of which there are 16 instances in each poly, the result is a loud clang of samples sounding all at once. After this initial problem, it no longer occurs until the patch is closed and reopened. I have tried unplugging all messages to the groove which can start playing but this does not seem to affect it.
Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know of a solution please?
    Thank you.
