Monome Arc and Msp
Has any used this as a controller in max/msp and what are their views on the device and it's capability with max?
The device hasn't been released yet.
But it has a great set of capabilities:
an 'endless rotary encoder' can be used to scroll values, or increase/decrease acceleration values, or control an index of some sort, or anything else you can think of for scrolling values endlessly
the 'pushbutton' knob allows for paging between many different functions, or any other trigger function you can think of
the 'per-LED-brightness' allows for different levels of display(for a rather convoluted example: you can have a mediumbright playback/sequence pointer scrolling around the knob, while a stagnant fullbright LED could show the knob's current index/position and the other levels of brightness could flash to show inactive sequence-steps, etc. etc. etc.)
the 'walnut with orangeLED' and sturdy design not only looks good but is likely to last long like most monomes.
as with all monomes, OSC communication opens up the full functionality-set of the entire device allowing you to customize your use completely.
