Monome Package, the Grid, audio out
Just got my hands on a Monome Grid, Teletype, Ansible, etc. and trying to play around with it in Max, I have the Monome Package. When I try to use the grid in the examples page as a keyboard, and I load up a plugin, either VST or AU, I get no audio out at all when I hit buttons on the grid. My audio out is working fine and is setup as usual. But there doesn't appear to be any audio action happening between the Max patch, the grid, and the plugin. The grid buttons light up when pressed, but I don't know if the patch is sending anything out to the plug in to make sound. Hints?
do you have any errors in the Max window you could share here(example: "no format VST exists")?... if not, there may be more answers over on this forum, it was started by monome.org, but they've transferred ownership to handle less support there... still, it's basically the best repo for info. on monome stuff:
if i go into 'patching' mode and snoop the contents of the bpatcher attached to the ezdac/audio-out (right-click(or hold ctrl while clicking) on the bpatcher and choose from pop-up menu: "Object -> New Patcher With Contents of Embedded Patcher")... it seems all hooked up appropriately to convert monome grid messages to midi events for noteouts.
lighting up the grid is good, but the matrix/UI in the patch should also show button response within the patch a bit like this:
if not, you may need to reinstall serialosc, and the above link will be your best source of info.

This morning I loaded up Max, opened up the info window for the Monome package, and went to the Grid-MIDI page. This time I selected MIDI out, and I just let the built in synth DLS Synth 1 come on and when I played the Grid, it played the notes. I switched back to Plug-in, selected a plugin from elsewhere in the huge list shown, and it worked. Tried some other ones and they work too. Including the ones that didn't work before. I didn't do anything different except try the MIDI option first. Uninitialized variable, ghosts, gremlins, a magical posting reply? But it's working now. Thanks!!
