can hear the mac os x sounds (empty trash, etc.)
but when launching max (4.6.3), 
i can see the coreaudio motu 828 mk2 in the dsp status,
i turn it on, but i hear NO SOUND.  silent!
i've read many other posts about some problems with motu 828 mk2 but noooothing could fix it.

many of us on this list have this interface working...

- change the setting of the optical i/o (with max not working, this is a known bug of that motu, it kind of flickers back on and off without telling the driver...)

if all of this fails, test it with another computer, maybe the motu is faulty

Yes, I have a motu 828 mk2 and it also works fine on my macbook pro. I'm running 10.5.6. It must be a glitch with your G5 - if you're running the same OS on your macbook and mini, reinstalling the OS on your G5 probably won't fix it. Sorry I can't help more...Strange!!

Have you looked at the MaxMSP I/O Mappings? You can see them by opening the DSP Status window and clicking on "I/O Mappings" at the bottom. In the "Output Map." column, the first 22 outputs should be something other than off.

sure, I've made a special mapping, i work with many speakers.

Are you sure that MSP is properly authorised on this Mac? Earlier on if one had a lisence for Max but not MSP, audio would start once only for each time you ran Max/MSP. Do audio work with the built-in interface?
