Moving 3D objects with body movement
I'm a very new user of Max/msp/jitter and i don't know much of it.
But I have to do some kind of project for my final exam.
I thought about doing a 3D room and moving the camera with my body.
something like this: http://www.zacharyseldess.com/sampleVids/Seldess_faceTrackGLnav.mov
i managed somehow to import a 3D model, as you can see from the pic but now the problem is to make it move with my body. But i don't know how to connect the 2 things. Could frame diff work? and how?
I repeat, i'm totally new with this program.
check out the third party externals called cv.jit. they will do face tracking (what I assume zachary was doing) as well as flow tracking and many other cool things... I have used flow to rotate cubes rather successfully.
hope this helps
Hi Baron,
MIB is right, check out cv.jit. I believe I was using face detection there. Now I would definitely use the kinect for something like this and grab real depth values...
best,
Z
Thanks for the answers.
Could work the same with the PS3 Eyecam?
so I am this point right now
sorry to bother you with noob questions but to combine these two wich one i have to connect?
Extremely informative tutorial, keep them coming!!..
so i got x y z also of the 3D model ...
any suggest of how i can connect the 2 things in order to make it work ?
edit:
with pak rotate i managed to rotate it .. but now the issue is to match the right axes ... :P
but i have another issue...
face tracking is pretty instable.. and not always finds your face so the coordinates tends to go to zero .. is there a way to lock coordinates on last coordinate that had... i mean if i have 80 60 70 and if it doesn't find your face it goes to 0 0 0. Can i lock it to 80 60 70 if face tracking doesn't track your face?
Hi Baron,
Many ways to do this. Here's one.
best,
Zachary
same thing as Zachary's, slightly different objects ;)
thank you very much for the answers! :D
is there any simple way to put on even a simple grid texture to the model on my patch? i'm really having some troubles. I'm following every tutorial on jitter but really can't find a way.
