Multiple Audio Interfaces in Windows: similar to OS X "Aggregate Audio Device"?

Paul Yuen's icon

Hi,

I would like to setup multiple active audio drivers in MAX/MSP running on Windows. Is there any way that I could setup something similar to "Aggregate Audio Device" in OS X?

Precisely, I'd like to use VAC (Virtual Audio Cable) and send out audio signals from MAX/MSP out via multiple VACs to applciations that do not support multi-channel audio interface, i.e. they will only use channel 1-2 as default. Potentially, if I could route audio signals from MAX/MSP via multiple VACs, it should work. However, each VAC (instance) is presented itself as seperate audio drivers...

Any thought would be extremely helpful.

Cheers,
Paul

I was just looking this for ableton live (since it only recognises one card)

asio4all (asio4all.com)

I Have not tried it yet.

Im a little worried about how stable asio4all, miditranslator, and Live will be when running together..

I'm pretty sure VAC doesn't use ASIO, I think it uses WDM. Which is... to say... stupid.

Unfortunately there's nothing like JACK on XP. It's a bitch, yes. Honestly, Asio4ALL isn't very great. I've installed it on a couple laptops and such. Most cards have at least 1 DSP onboard and when you use ASIO4ALL that's done natively instead... so expect more CPU usage. Also, low buffer settings usually don't work. It'd be better to have 2 interfaces, from two different manufacturers :/

Sorry, ;(

Stephane Letz is making good progress on Jack for Windows... (and Tim
Mayberry with Ardour for Windows as a result):
