Hi there, is there any experience with using [mxj net.tcp.send/recv] over the internet? - i dont seem to have any luck on googleling the forums..

is it possible with this object and a router setup with out alot of router configuration?

if i hit the ip -> port ->[mxj net.tcp.send] to hit the router on an open port.. can i then from max direct to the right computer on the local network? - or do i use port forwarding on the router?

any talk, help, hint, links.. very welcome.

hi,
it is absolutely feasible... we from EBE (European Bridges Ensemble, www.e-b-e.eu) have been doing this a lot with www.quinet.net

You might need to set up some port forwarding in your router tough...

Hope that helps,
good luck,
best,
Johannes

hi, thank you. the link is dead -- http://www.quintet.net -- you've missed a letter. - this is an interesting concept. extension.. if you join the develop group it is possible to have the source?

well,, good resources for contact on this project anyway...

comments, knowledge... thoughts on the tcp within max is still very welcome.

thanks again,

Just download the Quintet.net installer. It contains all the subpatches that are used by the Quintet.net collectives.

mxj net.tcp.send/recv behaves just like udpsend/receive. No difference when it comes to routers, firewalls, port forwarding and NAT. I have modified the objects a bit so you can fill a buffer before sending the packets off, same as with the opensoundcontrol object. The two objects are named tcp.net.packer/unpacker and will automatically install in the right location. The Quintet.net login process also allows you to query your public IP number which is necessary if you want to connect to a server outside your home network. I have a server running at 193.175.148.231 which you can try to connect to in order to test your router settings. A whole has to be punched for port 7971 (tcp and udp).

I hope this helps.
