Need advice about animating puppet from Kinect

Hi all,

I'm looking the right way to animate a 3D humanoid puppet (as in recipe 45) from jit.openni or dp.kinect.
Is jit.anim.node the solution to manage joints ?
Should I preferably use orientation or position data - or both ? And How ?

Any advice is welcome.
