New Forum RSS URLs

Cycling '74's icon

The forum now supports adding /feed to the end of any regular URL to request an RSS representation of the content. eg:

The old style /forums/rss.php URLs are not currently supported. I'm going to implement code to handle all the different cases, look up the new URL and perform the proper redirection, but if you can't wait hop on those new URLs now!

Thanks for your patience and feedback.

the problem is that the forum RSS is merged into the cycling rss now so the forum posts are flooding my reader :) is ther a forumless RSS of Cycling site (i mean magazin posts, interviews, etc)?

Hi Finecutbodies - I fixed that a couple of hours ago. Or at least I thought I did. Can you verify and send me a link that shows the behaviour you describe?

I unsubscribed to it for the same reason. I couldn't find the non-forum rss link on the main page (on a quick look) so I assumed it got merged in with the forum.

Is there a link to the rss on the homepage?

Hi Rodrigo - no, there's not currently a link to the site RSS on the homepage. There probably should be one in the footer.

That feed is still spamming all forum posts.

Hi again Rodrigo,

It contains posts, projects, tools, but no topics or replies that I can see.

Do you not get something similar? If not, could you please show me?

Here's a screenshot of my rss feed.

Thanks for the feeds, Ben! I still have some comments ;-) :

Are only the 25 last posts available? It's not much when you check your feeds in the morning, after the US activity on the forum...
The "Reply To:" string at the beginning of the subject field in answers scrambles the order by subject in my RSS reader (TB) because the original post and the following answers don't share the same subject.

And while editing this post, I noticed that the backspace problem I wrote about is still there!

No joy in Feedly. Everything gets mapped to the top-level feed:

@Rodrigo - RSS consumers usually cache feed data they've previously downloaded. Are you getting any new forum content in your reader?

@Patrick - thanks for the feedback, keep it coming! Yes currently only 25 posts. I will look for solutions for that and the Reply To problem.

@Nick - thanks for the report. I'll figure it out asap.

I don't seem to have gotten anything from today, but after subscribing yesterday (after getting the link again) I did get new forum posts on the feed (I had marked all as read when I added the feed again).

Ah - a problem might be that all RSS feeds (certainly the section ones) are called "Cycling '74 >> All Posts".

Oh, and the Max for Live feed has a URL tagged "max" (while Beta is "edge"), which might be confusing: "max" I think should actually be Max, while that is now tagged with the deprecated "maxmsp".

@Ben: nothing new regarding the "Reply to" prefix? It's really annoying to read the forum like this in a RSS reader.
