Thanks for the link, this sure has some potential. It does appear to become a device rather than software. Check out wireshark.org for a software-solution. Although it won't pick up usb-traffic on my xp-machine, it does on my ubuntu-machine along with the application-data in hex(can't test mac as i don't own one can imagine it would show though). This stuff is way above my head (for now:) so something like vizsla would surely help me out.
