Newbie Question: Installing/Defining Custom Objects?

I'm sure the answer for this is quite obvious but it's driving me crazy trying to figure it out...

I have to use a patch from the Jimmies library in a composition I'm working on for my university course. We've been instructed to open the help files and take the structures from there because that way they are already "wired up" in a useful fashion. When I open any of the .help files the Jimmies objects are named there but the patches don't work and Max sees them as "bogus" objects. I'm only having this problem since I installed Max/MSP on my home computer, in the university studios I don't think I had the same problem which gives me the impression that I have to "install" the Jimmies objects somehow. Is this so? And if so how do I do it?
