Nintendo Wii Remote Object 1.0B6

Masayuki Akamatsu's icon

Hi all,

I uploaded a new version of aka.wiiremote at:
http://www.iamas.ac.jp/~aka/max/#aka_wiiremote

The Classic Controller is supported and some bugs are fixed (I hope so).

About the stability on PowerBook G4, I noticed that:
I can connect and use it well if I re-set the Wii Remote *every time*
before I use it.
(1) Delete "Nintendo RVL-CNT-01" on "Device" tab in "Bluetooth"
System Preference.
(2) Do the setup for Wii Remote. See http://max.iamas.ac.jp/2061/
articles/121.html
(3) Open "aka.wiiremote.help" and connect it.

This is inconvenient but I can't find any other better solutions at
this time.
Please let me know the result of this method.

Thank you.

Best,
Masayuki Akamatsu

I can get data from nunchuk with PowerBook G4/17"/1.33GHz.
Mac OS X 10.4.9 and Max 4.6.2.

Please try:
Plug nunchuk out and then plug it in.
or
Plug nunchuk in after the connection.

Thank you.

Hi,

I'm working on OSX 10.4.9 on PowerMac G4.
Maybe you know why Vibration / Expansion / Ir don't work using your object? (Max 4.6.2).

They work using Darwiinremote.
And they work using FlashWiiServer.

Connecting / Disconnecting / Motion Sensors work perfetly.

maybe it is a Bluetooth framework problem?
How can i fix it?

* I have my SensorBar Usb powered

Thanks

Mhhhh.

It seems to not work using G5 Dual 2Ghz osx 10.4.9

I'm considering that the problem is my Belkin Bluetooth Dongle.

I will try with D-link.

Hi,

I can NOT guarantee anything but I'm using Wii Sensor Bar (original
one) with FireWire bus power.
http://max.iamas.ac.jp/2061/articles/348.html
http://max.iamas.ac.jp/2061/articles/333.html

I bought a extra Sensor Bar, removed the cable and connect solder
power lines in FireWire cable to the circuit.
I believe that PowerBook/MacBook provide about 12DCV bus power on
FireWire port.
But it might damage the computer in the worst case.

I also made a standalone Sensor Bar using four CR1220 (3DCV) batteries.

Comments from electronics guru are welcome.

Masayuki

Hey Masayuki,

Sorry to keep this post going, but I just wanted to let you know about
my powerbook G4 status. I connected with perfect wiiremote motion,
led, buttons, vibration, nunchuck motion, joystick, and nunchuck
buttons. I haven't been able to test IR, but I'll look into that
soon.

Steps I had to take:

Open max and help patch. Pair using bluetooth setup assistant. While
the wii is still flashing, press connect, then press the metro.

Really great stuff. It's not that much of a pain consider all the
great data I'm getting. Thanks again for making the object. Will
check into the IR soon.

Thanks,
Keith

If you want comments from non Japanese gurus you might consider an
English version of your descriptions on the site... ;-)

But if you didn't destroy your computer yet, it seems to work...
I believe that Firewire as well as USB should be able to drive a bunch
of IR-LEDs, but the computer would not know how much will be driven and
can't warn you as "real" devices can if you hook up too much on the bus...

hi all,

just an information for ir led
the power from usb is 3V,you can connect the led with 200ohms resistor so you get the appropriate voltage, in other way you can connect 3 led in series to divide Voltage.(nota led is 1,2V)

bests

Hello.
I wonder if this may help you: I have managed to get the aka.wiimote IR working on a PPC Ibook (1,42ghz;Darwiin remote and WiiRemoteFramework installed)thorugh a few steps.

1)remove the "Nintendo RVL-CNT-01" from bluetooth devices (if it's there).

2)open Max/Msp and run aka.wiimote
3)press connect
4)press the 1 & 2 buttons on the wiimote (I get connect: 1 in Max window)
5)press connect (aka.wiimote) AGAIN (this shows connect: -1 in Max window)

6)Start metro: motion sensor and IR work perfectly (I have checked a few consecutive times).

Thank you so much Masayuki for this wonderful object.

Ciao.

Hi, I'm new. I was reading a bit and I noticed that you were able to get the joystick on the nunchuck to work. I'm using darwiin and I can't seem to use the joystick function. Please help. Thanks.
