No Audio From Msp
Hello, I've upgraded my Max/Msp to 5.1.1
I'm currently running a PPC Mac 1.5ghz 2gigs Ram and for some strange reason Msp isn't giving me any audio, every time I open patchers that worked before the update I get no audio actually the only thing I get is a nasty pop an that's all, another strange thing that happens is the gleetch lab software a Max/Msp runtime purchased project opens when I try to open certain other patchers hopefully someone else is having this same problem and there is a simple fix I've checked the forums and have seen some similar issues but were directed in the Max 4 live which is not my issue I don't own Live so this is strictly Max/Msp I'm open to any suggestions
Not sure why you've got no audio. Have you checked the IO and Signal Vector sizes in the DSP window? Sometimes having those set too low will cause clicks and pops.
With the Gleetch Lab problem, it's a weird Mac OS+Max thing that's happened to me before. You need to click on a .maxpat file, get info (press apple+i) and change the "open with" setting to MaxMSP. Then hit the Change All..... button. That should sort out the opening in runtime issue.
Try making a reeeally simple patch (just a cycle~ 500 and a dac~ for example) and playing with the vector settings.
O.k. I didn't state that I was using the Au Dls Player for sound output here's the link to a discussion in the forum that helped me with my problem.
Thank you, throwing the 2 preferences files make it work for me!
"Thank you, throwing the 2 preferences files make it work for me!"
but how I can't get this to fix, no matter how many threads I read with solutions.

The procedure appears in the second post from ejenkins:
"O.k. here's an update to the solution that's been working pretty consistently for me, trash the Max/Msp audio preferences and throwing away preference folders from older versions won't hurt either.
~user/library/preferences/Max 5 Preferences Folder/audioprefs.txt/CoreAudio@Built-in Aud.txt
the two preferences at the end are the one's to delete to get the au player working again."
It doesn't seem to work for everyone, but it worked perfectly for me.
