I'm trying to follow the first tutorial entitled hello. It mentions the object explorer and says the icon is at the bottom of the page. It also says it looks like binoculars. It is nowhere to be found. I really want to learn this but I'm already frustrated. Please help me. Thanks

Looks like the first tutorial has some outdated instructions. The Object Explorer disappeared from Max 7. In its place are the object palettes at the top of the patcher toolbar which permit you to easily grab objects for use in your patcher. Sorry for the confusion, we'll get that fixed up ASAP.

Might these be updated with the release of Max 8? Running the baked-in M4L 8 in Live 10 (fast!) but also hitting the same issue with the tutorials, thus I found this thread.

The outdated tutorial from 2012 is still linked from the site. I know it's only been six years, but has any progress been made on updating the tutorials?
